Bongo Zeptobrewery: Cornucopia Brew
by Steve
As a few of you already know, I’m working with my buddy/brewer Dan Berlin on a little project known as the Bongo Zeptobrewery. Lawrence Burns and I have been working together on visual aspects of the business, while Dan has been consistently outdoing himself with his brews. Tasting is believing (and believe me, we thoroughly taste). Below is a beer known as the Cornucopia. It is a heady mix brewed with pumpkin, sweet potato, leek, five kinds of barley, honey, molasses, and brown sugar. It’s like drinking a thanksgiving dinner, in a really really good way.
This is the label I have been the most satisfied with so far, and I feel definitely sets the bar for the rest of the labels to come. The main type and ornaments are all hand-drawn, and it was fun albeit a little maddening (gotta get that spacing and line weight juuuuuuust right). If you look closely, you can even see a few leeks on the label amidst the other produce. There’s a Double Domestic on the way, as well as a special beer for James T. Arnold (more on that in the coming months).
Find us on Facebook and keep up to date on the tastings in Philly that we’ve been organizing.
